Who needs a fit test?

Any employee required to wear a tight-fitting respirator as part of their job must complete a fit test annually, per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. This includes workers in construction, healthcare, manufacturing, laboratories, and maintenance who wear half-face, full-face, or N95 respirators.

How often is fit testing required?

Fit testing must be completed before an employee uses a respirator for the first time and repeated at least once every 12 months. It must also be redone whenever an employee changes respirator models or experiences a facial change (e.g., weight change, dental work, surgery) that could affect fit.

Do you perform medical evaluations?

Medical clearance must be completed before fit testing can occur.
We will assist with scheduling and coordination of medical evaluation services.

How long does each fit test take?

Each quantitative respirator fit test takes about 10 minutes per employee.
In a 4-hour (half-day) session, we can test up to 24 employees, and in a 10-hour (full-day) session, up to 60 employees can be tested.

Where is the testing performed?

All services are performed on-site at your location. We travel anywhere in Georgia, bringing professional, OSHA-compliant fit testing directly to your workplace—saving you travel time and keeping your team productive.

Do you offer after-hours or weekend testing?

Yes. We provide 24-hour on-site availability for all shifts, including nights and weekends, to accommodate your team’s schedule and minimize disruption to operations.

What types of respirators can you test?

We provide quantitative fit testing using the TSI PortaCount method for most tight-fitting respirators, including:

  • N95 filtering facepiece respirators

  • Elastomeric half-mask respirators

  • Elastomeric full-face respirators

  • Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) with tight-fitting facepieces

  • SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) with tight-fitting masks

Loose-fitting hoods, helmets, or supplied-air systems that do not form a facial seal are not eligible for quantitative fit testing.

Do you provide certificates or records?

Yes. Each employee receives a fit test record and pass/fail documentation, and your company receives a master log for OSHA compliance and recordkeeping. We will also maintain the records through their expiration and provide duplicate records upon request.

How do I schedule a session?

You can request a date using our online Book Now form or by contacting us directly at 814-591-7596 or info@georgiafittesting.com.
We’ll confirm your date, review your group size, and coordinate medical clearance as needed.
